An aim of this research is to explore the experiences of professionals who work in organisations that come into contact with ‘older’ victims of abuse. This is an under researched area, as in general, the experiences of professionals working with people aged 60 and over has been ignored in previous research.
It is important to gain insight into this area with the aim of promoting good practice and identifying challenges. In doing so, it is foreseen that there will be meaningful impacts to guidelines; policies and initiatives, at a local and national level.
Social workers within adult protection teams; and staff/or volunteers who work in specialist services.
You do not need to have worked with a victim who is 60 and over, a sin these situations your view will be sought instead.
You are under no obligation to participate. If you do choose to, interviews will last for an hour, but this may be longer if you require additional time.
To enable a better understanding of experiences, I would be very grateful if you would talk to me about your experiences, or views of working with victims of elder abuse and what types of training you have undertaken.
All interviews will be confidential, and any information provided will be anonymised.
If you do not wish to take part in this study, but would like support, your organisation may offer clinical supervision or access to counselling.
You can contact me and ask questions and I can also send you more information.
